My First Exhibition as a Model Builder - Modellbaumesse Ried 2025

The Ried Model Fair 2025 was something very special for me – it was my first fair as an exhibitor in model building. And I can say right away: It was an unforgettable experience.

I was represented at the IPMS Austria stand, as I am a member there. For me, this was the perfect opportunity to show my models to a larger audience and at the same time be part of a strong model-building community.

Great Variety at the Model Building Exhibition in Austria

The model fair in Ried offered an extreme amount and is definitely a highlight in the Austrian model-building scene. There was to see:

• impressive model exhibits in all scales and designs
• a dedicated Tabletop Area
• a fenced area for airshows
• an outdoor area for RC models
• a pool for model boats
• as well as a small but fine LEGO area

No matter where you looked – there was always something to discover. That's exactly what makes a good model fair so appealing to me.

My exhibited aircraft models in 1/32 scale

I had two of my aircraft models on display:

• Panavia Tornado GR.1 in 1/32 scale
• McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II in 1/32 scale

Both models were created with great attention to detail, so I was particularly excited about the feedback from visitors and other model builders.

Spontaneous Model Building Competition – 2nd and 3rd Place

There was also a relatively spontaneous model building competition at the fair. Without great expectations, I simply registered my two aircraft.

The result completely surprised me:

I got 2nd and 3rd place!

The joy was immense, of course – especially because it was my first model building exhibition as an exhibitor. This motivated me enormously to invest even more time and energy into my projects in the future.

A Weekend Full of Model Building, Exchange and Inspiration

We were on site from Friday to Sunday and stayed in a hotel – about a 2.5-hour drive from home.

Besides the exhibition itself, it was primarily the exchange with other model builders that made the weekend so special. Conversations, new ideas, and shared enthusiasm for model building – that's what it's all about.

Conclusion on the Ried Model Fair 2025

The Ried Model Fair 2025 was a complete success for me:

• First fair as an exhibitor
• Placements in the model building competition
• Many new impressions and inspirations
• Great conversations with like-minded people

I saw an incredible number of models in various versions and took away a lot of motivation for future projects.

In short: A really strong model building fair in Austria.

This was definitely not my last exhibition.
